Welcome to Rachel Ashwell's world: as beautiful as it is comfortable, as inspiring and spontaneous as it is practical and personal.
In this, her seventh book, Rachel takes us on a tour of twelve homes. In the US she shows us her own beach house on Malibu's oceanfront and her newly acquired ranch on the wide, open prairie in Texas. Rachel also introduces us to a one-room shabby shack hidden in the wooded hills of the Catskills. In the UK we visit a houseboat moored on a London Canal, and see how Rachel transformed a rented apartment into her own gloriously shabby and chic temporary retreat. We also take a glimpse into Sharon Osbourne's house in Los Angeles and designer Pearl Lowe's family home deep in the English countryside. |

Rachel Ashwell is a self-made businesswoman who founded the iconic brand known as Shabby Chic in 1989 when she opened a small shop in Santa Monica, California where she could sell "pretty things" without spending much time or distance away from her young children.
"Each one of the homes in this book is all soul and passion, created by people who have a common thread of creating art as their way of telling their stories authentically. Some of the stories are large and take up space, some are teeny but nonetheless meaningful, and require a discerning eye to create and discover. These twelve homes were rich, light, bright, and wonderful places to be." Rachel Ashwell, Shabby Chic Inspirations and Beautiful Spaces |
